Why will you choose Department of Sociology & Anthropology at GUB?
As a chairperson of this department, I can ensure you that our department involves close interactions between students and faculty members. In order to share knowledge and disseminate information, we are in the process of building partnership with the renowned home and overseas universities and organizations. The practice of enhancing knowledge and excellence, by the department, is prompted through conferences, seminars, workshops, field trips and study tours.
A highly qualified team of six faculty members including one (1) Associate Professor, three (3) Assistant Professors and two (2) Lecturers whole heartedly strives for the development of the department to accomplish its vision, mission and goals in a realistic manner. Our faculties are highly research-oriented and strive towards knowledge creation. Our students take the benefits of this situation spontaneously by getting involved in research oriented works at the undergraduate level and even after.
Sociology, as a career, has many options of creativity in the field of research institutes, the criminal justice system, public health and welfare organizations, private businesses, law firms, international agencies, medical centers, educational institutions, advertising firms, survey and polling organizations and of course public services. Practicing sociological knowledge with advanced skills creates research analysts, survey researchers, statisticians, urban planners, community developers, criminologists, or demographers and so on.
Finally, student life at the Department of Sociology & Anthropology is colored by Social Bonding Club.
